I spent most of formative years growing up abroad in Germany. It wasn't until the mid nineties that I moved back to the United States and lived in North Carolina, Texas, and eventually I settled in Georgia. I received my degree in English Education from Auburn University (WAR EAGLE!), and taught for ten years in Alabama. Meanwhile, my love for adventure and the wilderness led me to a position as a volunteer with the National Park Services. My first position was a summer program in Oregon. For the next six years, I began spending six weeks of every summer in the state of Oregon working in some capacity with the NPS. Finally, I realized that I had far more in common with the people and the landscape of Oregon than with the deep south, and I permanently moved to Portland. My passions include any outdoor activity, and I've hiked nearly 300 miles since moving to Oregon in the summer of 2015, literature and grammar, music, and education. I enjoy traveling, cooking vegetarian meals, and a good road trip. JESSICA PORTER

In my spare time, I love to work in my garden, hike, cuddle with my pit/lab mix named Bob, run half marathons, practice escapism through reading, and boulder. I also love hip-hop, traveling, and cooking/eating delicious food. My hands-down favorites are Thai and Mexican food. Something most people don't know about me is that I played bassoon throughout college, and even toured Scandinavia as part of a woodwind quartet.

When I am not at school, I enjoy traveling, and seeing new places. Like most people, my budget doesn't always allow for travel, so I tend to relax with friends and watch bad TV, like The Vampire Diaries- she says with shame in her voice.
Occasionally, when the Oregon weather permits it, I will head up to Portland and enjoy the food cards and, of course, peruse through Powell's! Sometimes I can cook, sometimes. If it is Mexican or Italian food, I can handle my own. However my brother, the chef, would beg to differ, so I will just stick to eating his delicious recipes! |

School PsychologistI am a first year School Psychologist and recently graduated this summer from Lewis and Clark College. I was hired full time last year as an intern at Templeton Elementary School, and did my practicum there the previous year. I am a mother, significant other, daughter, sister, friend, and colleague, and a million other things all wrapped up. I love to cook, knit, and am one of those green juice drinking, no meat eating, shampoo and toothpaste making, living off the land people. I love Tualatin High School! The students are so talented it fascinates me, the environment is so much fun, and I feel such a sense of community among students and staff. It is my goal to become a recognizable face and part of that community.
